The leadership of the Croatian Royal Council has responded to the news of the vandalism of the Bleiburg memorial site in Mirogoj. The CRC participated in the commemoration held on May 16, 2026, organized by the Croatian Domobran and attended by other associations. It is extremely concerning that the floral stylized Croatian coat of arms was destroyed.

According to news from the Croatian Society of Victimology, wreaths and candles laid on May 16, 2026 during and after the commemoration at Mirogoj for the victims of Bleiburg were destroyed. It is extremely worrying that vandals tore off the floral stylized Croatian coats of arms from the wreath.
Our society today has a big problem with the presence of radical left-wing ideology, and the ways in which places of piety and suffering of the Croatian people are treated are particularly cruel. Therefore, we remind you of the need for quality education and the building of a culture of remembrance, in which associations such as the CRC should play an important role in bringing historical science and culture closer to young people.
